We took the aerial tramway near Jasper to go up to the mountain top, known as Whistler, at elevation of 7,500
feet above sea level to enjoy the panoramic view from the mountain top. This is Canada's longest and highest
aerial tramway.

In Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) in northern Idaho, we saw a female moose and a baby moose. This
national wildlife refuge is only about 20 miles south of Canadian border.

A bald eagle, perching on a post in Kootenai NWR, seemed to be watching the activities of these water fowl,
and might be looking for a weak one as the potential
prey.
Pend Oreille River along scenic Highway 20 in northeast Washington State. Our return route from Montana
through Idaho and Washington State to Seattle Airport was quite pleasant, mostly along the valleys between
mountains with beautiful blue colored river as shown above accompanied by ospreys and salmons as shown in
the following:

Chelan Gorge and Bridge in central Washington State along our return route, scenic Highway 97. They are near
the confluence of the Chelan River and the Columbia River. When the Chelan Dam releases water, powerful
white water roars down Chelan River through this gorge and down into the mighty Columbia River.

This photo of Chelan Bridge and Gorge was taken from an observation spot that is reach by a short access
road that branches off to west from Highway 150/100 as shown in the following close up Google Map:

There are several dams on the mighty Columbia River along our return route. So, we stopped to tour one of
them at Rocky Reach Dam

The side walls of these fish ladders have large glass windows to let visitors enjoy watching these salmons going
up the fish ladders. These mature Pacific salmons may weigh more than 10 pounds each.

We also saw fish ladders for salmons on
Vancouver Island in western Canada and on Newfoundland in eastern
Canada.

We also saw group of several wild turkeys on at least two occasions in this trip.

So, it was a pleasant drive along the beautiful blue colored rivers, including the mighty Columbia River,
accompanied by ospreys above the river and many big salmons in the river on our way back to Seattle Airport,
completing this 13-day tour of the fantastic Canadian Rockies.

On our Alaska trip in August 2009, we saw red (sockeye) salmon, King Salmon and
other kinds of salmon at several places in Alaska as shown on my Travelogue web
pages at:

In National Bison Range in Montana, we saw another deer with small antler covered with velvet.
55-mile long Lake Chelan in central Washington State along our return route, scenic Highway 97. It was raining
when we reached lake shore of Lake Chelan. Better photo of the beautiful Lake Chelan during sunny days can
be seen at the following website:

Each year, there are large number of mature big salmons returning from Pacific Ocean swimming up the
beautiful blue colored and mighty Columbia River to their birth places to
spawn. Therefore, these dams all have
fish ladders, like this one, to help salmons to overcome the obstacles imposed by these dams on their returning
journey up the mighty Columbia River.
