National Scenic Byway - Route 66 in Arizona
Associated with my trip to Las Vegas in Nevada  to attend my classmate reunion, we drove on November 4,
2006 through the beautiful section of the National Scenic Byway - Route 66 from Havasu National Wildlife
Refuge near Colorado River to Kingman in western Arizona. Route 66 is also know as the "Main Street of
America" or "Old Mother Road". It is a zig-zag hairpin switchback type of mountainous road here in western
Arizona. The majestic and impressive desert mountains along Route 66 are shown in the following.
The scenic Byway and Historic Route 66 also took us through the small living ghost town of Oatman in Arizona
where we saw several wild Burros (small donkeys) roaming free on the street as shown in these two pictures.
These burros are direct descendants from the Gold Miners that brought them to the area as pack animals.
When gold ran out and the gold mines surrounding Oatman and Gold Roads, Arizona were shut down, the
burros were set free to roam the hills.
話當年,美國西部古鎮老街風韻, 是正經的古鎮,保留著原始的老街遺跡。

There was a traffic jam here in this small living ghost town with a population of 200 when we arrived because
the regular street show of old west gunfight was ongoing. We had to wait until the street gunfight show was
finished and everybody on the street clapped their hands so that we could proceed to continue our driving tour
of Route 66.
